The Rev. Lucretia M. van Ommeren - Tabbert has been serving Emmaus Lutheran Church for almost five years. The congregation is an ethnically diverse, loving and caring community.

Pastor Lucretia also comes from an ethnically and culturally diverse and multi- lingual background. Her first language is Dutch. She was born in a small country in South- America, Suriname, a former Dutch colony and became the fifth in line of fifteen beautiful, loving and adventurous siblings.

After finishing teacher college in Suriname, she has lived, studied and worked on various continents. She was ordained in her home country in her "home" church: The Evangelisch Lutherse Kerk in Suriname (ELKS) in July of 1987.

Her marriage to Canadian born husband Martin Tabbert has brought her to Canada, Alberta; first to Fort Mc Murray then to Stony Plain and now to Edmonton. In Stony Plain she served Immanuel Lutheran Church of Rosenthal, and now Emmaus.

Pastor Lucretia specialized in Pastoral Care and Counselling; which is an important part of her ministry.

She loves God, loves people both big and small, enjoys a good hike, various ethnic foods, is enthusiastic, energetic, appreciates humor and is convinced that prayer, meditation and laughter are the most effective medicines.

Our Elders are an amazing group, who together with our Pastor, provides Spiritual Leadership!

The Children’s Ministry desires children to encounter God, His works, and develop healthy lifestyles and relationships. Our mission is to have the children experience the presence of God. We have many programs such as Kids Klub/Musical Rehearsals, led by our Pastor on Wednesdays from 4:00 - 6:00 PM, Vacation Bible School which is an interactive camp teaching children the Bible through fun stations and songs. We also teach Sunday School to kids K-9 during our Sunday Worship Service!

Here at Emmaus we try to get involved with the Community as much as we can in spreading His word. At the end of every month we have occasional Movie Nights, Fridays at 7:00 PM, we do Community Dinners, Barbecues, Plays/Musicals, Pageants, and much more!  

Our Worship Team is a creative, passionate team of people who lead music for the 11 AM Sunday Service. They love music and use it to encourage and point people to Jesus. Interested in joining? Contact Allan Alabat for more info!

The Audio - Visual Team are the wizards in the back of the room that make the magic happen! They are responsible for Mixing Live Preferences and Speakers. Providing Visuals and Graphics, Maintaining the Church's Website, as well as maintaining and performing maintenance on all the Tech in the Church. If you are passionate about Tech and wish to take part and learn all you can about Technology and being an AV Technician, Contact Matthew Baker for more info on his Training Sessions.
